Description: a fine pair of armorial dinner plates made for William McDonald of St. Martins Abbey in Perthshire, circa 1780, elegant blue Fitzhugh shaped border and an additional inner border of bamboo woven with florals, the large crest quartered with a small ship, an arm holding a cross, a lion rampant and a fish on the sea, an old label on the reverse of one plate reads "Lowestoft plate" available separately or as a pair, see Howard CAP Vol. 1 page 670
